Mr. Turbidy is a founding member of AEC Partners and prior to the formation of AEC Partners was an energy industry advisor for Avista Capital Partners. At Avista, Mr. Turbidy was responsible for sourcing, executing and managing Avista’s energy-related investments focusing primarily on oilfield services and midstream companies. Prior to joining Avista Capital Partners in 2007, Mr. Turbidy was the CEO of Trico Marine Services Inc. (“Trico”), an international provider of marine support vessel services to the offshore oil and gas industry. He led Trico’s successful turnaround from a financially distressed Gulf-oriented operator to a well-capitalized offshore services provider with operations in the North Sea, West Africa, Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, Mexico and Southeast Asia. Mr. Turbidy was recruited as CFO of Trico in 2003, functioned as the Chief Restructuring Officer during the company’s restructuring and subsequently was promoted to CEO after its successful completion. Prior to his service at Trico, Mr. Turbidy spent over a decade with DLJ and Credit Suisse in their investment banking divisions. During his tenure with DLJ and Credit Suisse, he focused on the energy sector, principally offshore and land drilling contractors, seismic service providers, oilfield equipment manufacturers, offshore support vessel providers, and exploration and production companies, as well as regional opportunities in the Southwest. Mr. Turbidy received a B.A. from Duke University in 1990.
Mr. Turbidy currently serves as a director of Appalachian Midstream Partners and Spartan Offshore. Mr. Turbidy formerly served as a director of several public oilfield services companies including Precision Drilling Corporation (NYSE: PDS), Grey Wolf, Inc (AMEX: GW) and Trico (NASDAQ: TRMA).
